Runaway Beach Antigua can be found in Runaway Bay, just two miles north of downtown St. John’s and a mere 20-minute car ride from the island’s airport. Runaway Beach sits on Antigua’s northwestern edge and is worth a visit even if you’re staying elsewhere on the island.
HOW TO ACCESS THE BEACH?
Conveniently situated right next to the popular Dickenson Bay, Runaway Beach is easy to access and open to the public. It is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible. A comfortable ten-minute stroll will take you from the quiet Runaway Beach to the hustle and bustle of Dickenson Bay.
If arriving by car, head north from the centre of St. John’s, and you’ll reach Runaway Beach in about ten minutes. You can, of course, also opt for the comfort of an air-conditioned taxi.
Please note that there are no public toilet facilities at Runaway Beach, so if you’re travelling with young children, you may want to choose one of the many other beautiful beaches on the island.

Activities
LIf you’re a beach lover, you can simply hire a beach chair and umbrella and enjoy some relaxing time in the sun. Afterwards, cool down with a swim in the crystal-clear ocean or go snorkelling in the shallow water and catch a glimpse of the many colourful fish circling your feet.
Horse lovers will enjoy the exciting horseback riding tour all the way to Fort James, which can be organised at one of the huts on the beach.
Another option is to rent a kayak or snorkel gear and set off to explore the coast. Many visitors like to kayak around the whole bay and take in the sights and sounds of this beautiful location.
